He is a skilled brawler and has a fearsome reputation around the school, which has also prevented him from getting dates and has left him desperate for a girlfriend. He is quite hot tempered and initially tends to use violence to solve conflicts. However, living with Midori also brings out the more noble aspects of his character and he learns to solve things without overly relying on physical fighting. He also grows kinder towards Midori as he grows to understand her more. He is not afraid of anyone except for his older sister Rin who is even better at fighting than he is and likes to play pranks on him. He is quite oblivious to others' feelings for him and only knows Midori loves him because she openly says so. He is voiced by Kisho Taniyama.
