Do you watch the opening and/or closing of anime?

Am I the only one who never watches the opening/closing of animes? I feel like everyone seems to and have their favorite openings and whatnot but I literally skip the 1:30 beginning of every anime I watch no matter what. I used to watch them when I first started watching anime but I started to feel like its a waste of time watching the beginning and ending over and over again every ep and I always would rather skip straight to the action. So it became a habit to always skip over it. Especially if its a new opening because they tend to contain lots of spoilers that can sometimes ruin the experience depending on the anime. I'd rather not see the images until I've seen it play out in the anime so its more surprising that way. So if i do watch an opening its usually only cause im preoccupied with something else while its playing. Ive maybe watched the opening of not only anime but any show like maybe 5 times in the past two years. So i was wondering if it was just me who skips them or if others do it. And if I'm missing out by not watching them :p

I watch the Op's and Ed's every single time. I haven't come across any I dislike so far and as for the spoilers in them, it usually makes me look forward to seeing when they happen.

I nearly always watch the openings of anime. I usually watch the closings as well, but I don't pay as much attention to them (usually just do other things as the music plays in the background). I don't know why, but I have this fascination with opening sequences, so I tend to watch them. It's rare for me to skip them, and if I do, it means the opening is really bad.

I typically watch the openings and endings often (or at least listen to the music if I've seen the OP/ED enough times). I feel like it's part of the entire presentation.

Doesnt it get repetitive though? Especially if you're like me and like to marathon shows it can start to feel tedious seeing the same intro every 23 minutes. It's like that one song that always plays on the radio or on your ipod

I always watch the OP for the first time, but I never watch the ED of anime except Gintama occassionally. The only anime I never skip the OP of is Steins;Gate whether I'm re-watching over the course of a few weeks or marathoning it.

For Hunter x Hunter (2011) viewers, do you actually watch the OP every single time?

lol

Depends on the OP / ED & what kind of mood I am in tbh. I used to do it every single time. Now I don't mind letting both the OP and ED play if they're both good.
A guide to living with that one guys ugly signature on MAL.

1. See that SullyNathan has posted last in thread, abort thread.
2. After clicking quick reply, close eyes and type out reply.
3. Try to scroll as far down as possible before replying if you prefer to keep your eyes open.
4. Report said signature for being offensive to the eyes.
5. See he is active in thread, scroll through thread while trying not to have eyes burned, sigh, click back & lose interest.
6. Move to another part of MAL forums where he does not visit.
MAL Jesus where are you?

I watch the OP and ED of the first and last episodes always. And on the rare occasion I find myself in love with the OP or ED I watch every time.

Seriously though, I skip openings sometimes when I'm marathoning or if I'm in a rush for whatever the reason. I'd usually just listen to them at least while doing something else. I almost never pay attention to the endings unless they happened to catch my interest somehow.

I do the same thing, but usually with the second to last episode as well. I hate getting to the end of the final episode and they don't play the ED. You know, the song starts, the credits roll, but over top of the last minute of the episode.

Funny how it looks like people are more willing to skip the ED. Never reflected on it but I guess that's the same for me.

You've been on MAL for four years and this was your first post :o^ but I think people would rather skip the ending cause they're eager to move on after the episodes done

Only if its a new opening/closing:

It depends: if an opening/ending is nice like Death Note opening 1/ending 1 or phenomenal like Shingeki no Kyojin opening 1 I never skip it. Otherwise, skip.

Depends on how good the OP/ED is to me. I will usually listen to them fully. Sometimes, i even pause the video halfway to look for full versions of the song.

I always watch the opening of an anime. Helps me get in the mood of what I'm about to watch. I watch the ending too, since most of the times, it shows a preview of the next episode.

If I like OP/ED I watch it again and again (this is most common case).
If I dislike OP/ED I skip it.
If it is ED and I don't dislike it I just read some news while listening the music.

i always skip it so i can watch more shows
my logic is that if the actual show ends at like 21 minutes (cuz i skipped outro) and i skip like the first 2 minutes then 3 episodes can be seen in an hour

btw, whoever skips EVA opening is a complete turd and should die in a fire.
I'm also laughing at you who skipped the Aria openings. Hehe.
Oh, and fucking Latin songs, no way someone would skip that (i.e: Elfen Lied, Dantalian no Shoka)

9 times out of 10 i would watch the opening/ending every time.

The only times I would skip an opening/ending is if i am in a rush and need to finish quickly, If i am watching two or more new episodes (try to make it like one long episode), or if I REALLY dont like the opening(which dosen't happen often).

I almost always watch the opening, even if I don't really like it just because I feel an intro is kind of a necesaty for a tv-show and don't like not watching them. The endings however I tend to skip after one or two episodes. I usually very much dislike the ending tracks and in most cases consider them the worst part of the soundtrack. Even the ending to Cowboy Bebop "The Real Folk Blues" I think is very subpar to the rest of the amazing soundtrack of the show (oh my god I lvoe this OST os much) and I skipped it after episode 3. However there are exceptions:

The ending to Paranoia Agent is awesome! (not as awesome as it's opening mind you) The music is just so great which makes the soundtrack for Paranoia Agent the only anime OST that has no poor tracks on them imo.
The ending to Steins Gate I very much prefered to the opening which I seriously disliked. I didn't skip the opening but I endured it whereas the ending I really enjoyed.
But the most curious exception would be Madoka Magica where I skipped the opening from ep4 onwards because it just felt really out of place whereas the ending by "Magia" by Kalafina I loved. I noticed myself airdrumming allong with it after a while.

Yes, I have no clue why though.

Every. Single. Time.

...For new episodes. xD

HxH aside, I usually watch the series' OP several times. If I like it, I watch it every time. It varies with the ED depending on how much I like it. Sometimes I only listen to it once.
